The Twilight Zone - A journey into a dimension of sight and sound

Debuting in 1959, The Twilight Zone revolutionized television, Horror, Science Fiction, and Fantasy by providing thought provoking subjects mixed with human experience and exceptional storytelling. Ranging from the most fantastic to the most personal, The Twilight Zone  introduced many things into the cultural zeitgeist from the most talented writers of any era.

I've covered some of the more interesting creatures and aliens from The Twilight Zone and have many more planned in the future.

For now, we have:

Anthony Fremont from 'It's a good life'
The Gremlin from 'Nightmare at 10000/20000 feet'
The Kanamits from 'To Serve Man'

Talents:
None Displayed

Powers:
Gremlin Physiology: The Gremlin has a unique physiology that allows it to exist at high altitudes and greater resistances to damage. The Gremlin has the following attributes:

  • Body Resistance: The Gremlin has Ex (20) resistance to damage and Gd (10) reistance to energy. Although the Gremlin in the series is being shown to be brought down by a .38 pistol, the short story and subsequent appearance in the movie shows it to be resistant to small arms fire.
  • Resist: temperatures: The Gremlin is assumed to have Ex (20) protection against temperatures and environmental extremes, as it is easily able to exist upwards of 20000 feet without issue.
  • Natural Weaponry: Claws: The Gremlin has claws which do Rm (30) damage, halving effective body armor and material strengths.
  • Wall-Crawling: The Gremlin can crawl along surfaces with Rm (30) ability, able to remain upright and adhered without any issue.
  • 'Gliding': The Gremlin lives on the air currents at high altitudes, able to move with Am (50) ability and speed, capable of catching up to a DC-10 or 747 without any issue. The Gremlin needs to make an Agility FEAT check in order to land on a moving craft.

Contacts:
None

Limitations:
Hideous Appearance: The Gremlin has a hideous appearance, forcing a one round -1cs check when spotted.
Agent of Chaos: The Gremlin is obsessed with destroying aircraft, and is drawn to storms where it lies in wait and attacks passing craft, for no real reason. The Gremlin cannot be easily reasoned with, and chooses not to communicate.
Discovery: If the Gremlin is discovered or uncovered, the Gremlin will attempt to taunt the observer, requiring a Psyche FEAT to resist. If the Gremlin is in danger of being revealed to more than one person, it will leave immediately.

The Kanamits from 'To Serve Man'

Please, Mr. Chambers, eat. We wouldn't want you to lose weight.

From there, I would suggest the red wine.

Knowledge: Earth Customs
Knowledge: Kanamit Customs

Cooking
Knowledge: Exotic Cuisine

Powers:
Kanamit Physiology: Kanamits (as portrayed solely in the TV Episode) are 9' giants with several advantages over normal humans:
  • Telepathy: Kanamits are telepathic and communicate solely through psionic means. Kanamits are also capable of understanding and communicating in any known verbal language, and can sense surface emotions and immediate intentions with Rm (30) ability. While Kanamits are not hive-minded, the do share a psionic connection with one another, and can immediately communicate with each other over great distances. The exact limits are unknown, but believed to be around Rm (30) range.
  • Superior Physiology: Kanamits are much more powerful than humans, capable of great feats of strength and can easily cart a struggling adult male of approximately 200 lbs up a ramp and into a ship without any issue whatsoever.
  • Kanamit Resistances: Kanamits seem to be more resistant to damage, toxins, and disease with Ex (20) ability, probably capable of resisting damage up to small arms fire based around the evidence as provided.
  • Superior Technology: Kanamits possess Mn (75) technology capabilities, including advanced medical breakthroughs, terraforming, renewable energy, and of course, space travel. A typical Kanamit ship can reach their own system within weeks at sub-light and warp space. Kanamits also have a variety of weaponry, but would rather help those that they see a certain potential in with kindness and peace...

Limitations:
Reputation:It's assumed that Kanamits have a reputation amid other spacefaring races for their particular methods and excellent table manners.
Unusual Looks:Kanamits are 9' tall bald humanoids and look indentical
Dietary Necessities: The Kanamits have very specific dietary needs, and will go to great lengths to cultivate necessary resources.

Anthony Fremont from 'The Twilight Zone'

Anthony Fremont

F: Fe (2)
A: Pr (4)
S: Fe (2)
E: Typ (6)
R: Typ (6)
I: Rm (30)
P: Rm (30)

Health: 12
Karma: 66
Popularity: (In Peaksville, OH) 100/-100 (But you'd better not let Anthony hear you)
Resources: (See Powers)

Talents:
Student*

Powers:
Reality Alteration*: Anthony Fremont has the ability to alter reality with a whim, posessing Cl1000 ability to do so. Anthony can permanently affect reality in a variety of ways and means, including:
  • Weather control, instantly changing seasons and/or environmental situations
  • item creation, including his favorite foods and/or his favorite items
  • changing individuals into new shapes such as removing aspects, massive transformations such as into beasts and/or jack-in-the-boxes.
  • sending a person away, 'Into the Cornfield', which is effectively destroying them.
  • Recreating individuals, objects, and/or environments at will

Telepathy: Anthony is a telepath, capable of reading surface thoughts without any issue with Rm (30) ability. Anthony cannot at this age probe deeper than surface thoughts (It simply doesn't occur to him to do so).

Environmental Awareness*: Not necessarily the power as it is normally described, Anthony is fully aware of the area he is in, allowing him to perceive subtle changes and interactions across a town-wide area. Anthony is rarely surprised by events, as her is usually fully aware of the world and microcosm around him.

Peaksville, Ohio: Anthony has separated his hometown from the rest of existence through his power, and can shape and change it as he see fits. within Peaksville, Anthony is fully aware of all transactions, and limits if not eliminates access to the 'outside' world. It is assumed that while in Peaksville, people age but do not die of natural causes (Usually eliminated by Anthony by being send to the cornfield.

Contacts:
Anthony has no real contacts, as everyone is secretly afraid of him. Anthony can usually call upon anyone within Peaksville to do as he sees fit.

Limitations:

Emotional Maturity: Anthony has the emotional range of a pre-teen, and cannot understand the scope of his actions. As such, Anthony reacts as a child would: badly to criticism and/or anger, seeking approval for his actions, and generally behaving as a bit of a brat. Some of the adults have found that they can manipulate Anthony to a limited degree by playing on these facts, but only so far.

Mortal Limitations: Despite the immense power that Anthony has, it is assumed that Anthony still is effectively a child, and suffers from the same limitations a child has.

Note:
"It's a good Life" was originally a short-story that was translated to an exceptional Twilight Zone Episode. There is a sequel that was made in 2002 for the UPN updated Twilight Zone series called 'It's still a good life', with an adult Anthony, and his daughter, who also possessed his powers.

"It's a real good thing you did Anthony....really good!"
