Marvel - The Lost Generation

Written by Roger Stern and John Byrne in 2000, Marvel: The Lost Generation was an attempt to answer the historical gap between the end of WWII to the first appearance of the Fantastic Four. Utilizing the idea that a secret skrull invasion had been thwarted by a hitherto unknown group of heroes dubbed 'The Front Line', the series looked at the period and how the Marvel Universe existed.

In many ways Marvel: The Lost Generation filled in the continuity issues that had been around since the debut of the FF. Stern and Byrne introduced heroes that were inspired and involved with the future MU, as well as interacting with those still active adventurers that had been around for some time.

I've done my best to capture the Front Line and the characters that were introduced and ultimately may still exist within the current Marvel Universe. In many cases Marvel: The Lost Generation predated such events like Secret Invasion and Civil War by either intentionally or unintentionally sewing the seeds of those events.

The Front Line:

The Black Fox - Doctor Robert Paine - Mystery Man and enemy of Nocturne
Effigy - Velmax/Mr. Scott - a skrull infiltrator who switched allegiances to Earth.
Firefall - a young woman capable of generating extreme heat and flame
Gadfly - Daughter of Captain Hip and Sunshine
Mr. Justice - Timothy 'Tim' Carney - Younger brother of the Yankee Clipper
Nightingale - A mysterious empath whose real appearance and name were never revealed
Oxbow - Sam Motonabbe - one of first mutant heroes and master archer
Pixie - An Eternal from Earth who became one of the champions against the skrull
Rapunzel - An unknown woman with prehensile hair
Reflex - A kinetic controlling member of the Front Line
Walkabout - One of the first Marvel robots and later gestalt cyborg
William Carmody - One of the most brilliant men of his era, creator of Walkabout, and eventual Cyborg
The Yankee Clipper - Patrick Carney - a hero that attempted to fill the void left by Captain America
Yeti -  a powerful physical being who may actually be the first inhuman hero

Others:
Dr. Cassandra Locke  - A young scientist from the future who travels back in time to get evidence of a vast conspiracy
Nocturne - The Arch-Nemesis  of the Black Fox and enemy of The First Line
Sunshine - 1960s heroine and wife of Captain Hip - Mother of Gadfly
